We involve European best practices to discuss the Concept of socio-economic transformation of Kryvyi Rih until 2030.

Specialists from the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Construction Industry Support Foundation worked in Kryvyi Rih as part of the monoácityátransformation project. During the working visit, they met with Mayor Yurii Vilkul.

Representatives of the Hanns Seidel Foundation are ready to share the German experience in the transformation of mono cities. Now, together with the Foundation for the Support of the Construction Industry and the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, they conduct comprehensive research, study the basic situation in the city. As a result, specific recommendations will be developed, taking into account local characteristics.
"We have a lot ofávisionsáand ideas, but the opinion and experience of German partners are also important to us. We attract the best practices of development of European monoácities, adapt them to the specifics of our region and form a detailed plan of socio-economic transformation of Kryvyi Rih until 2030,"áMayor YuriiáVilkul said.
The pilot project of transformation of monocities and industrial territories of Dnipropetrovsk region started in July whenáthe Mayor of Kryvyi Rih signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the Departmentáof the Academy of Mining Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, non-governmental organization "Kryvyi Rih Foundation ofáthe Future",áConsul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk Stefan Keil, Foundation for the Support of the Construction Industry (Germany).
Director of the Construction Support Fund Toralf Weise said, "Kryvyi Rih should already think about what will happen and which way to go if the industrial base of the region changes. Our goal is not to impose the Western European experience, but to develop ouráintegrated concept of development of your city together with our colleagues. The future of children, conservation of resources, jobs, cultural heritage of Kryvyi Rih are in the centre of attention."á
"In July, we signed strategic intentions for cooperation. And now our visit is more practical, we communicate with specialists of departments and divisions, we conduct a basic comprehensive study of the city. In October we organize a "workshop" on architecture and development of Kryvyi Rih, transport, ecology and tourism. We will develop proposals for new project documents in the field of urban planning and urban development together with German and Ukrainian specialists, as well as specialists from Kryvyi Rih," Olena Maksymova, Deputy Director of the Hans Seidel Foundation in Ukraine, Project Coordinator of the Hanns Zaidel Foundation in Ukraine, noticed.
Two teams will work within the project. The first one includesáexperts in spatial planning and social capital creation. They are engaged in forming a vision of the city's development on the basis of technologies and tools of urban planning. The second team works on the basis of the Academy of Mining Sciences (Department for the Development of Industrial Territories)áand includes experts from Ukraine, Poland and Germany. They are engaged in a more detailed analysis of the economic and innovation potential of the city. The end result of the work of the two teams containsáthe development and presentation in March 2021 of the Concept for the transformation of Kryvyi Rih, which will cover all industries,áfrom entrepreneurship to energy saving. The city will change from a monoeconomic to a more harmonious and balanced one. The technology of identifying new directions for economic growth will be used (emphasis on innovation).
